The 'Foregone' written by Russell Banks. This is the second time that Paul Schrader has directed one of Banks' novels for the screen, following the adaptation of Prywatne piekło (1997). OH CANADA is a highly original film by one of the masters of cinematography, a true work of art. The film is beautifully made with a strong visual appeal. It has beautiful motion pictures and great production design. The acting is strong, especially Richard Gere, who plays the main character. He gives a fantastic and memorable performance as Jack Nicholson in FIVE EASY PIECES – a complicated, not always likable, but fascinating character. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it’s Paul Schrader’s cup of tea. 39. his greatest achievements and a gift for cinema lovers. Recommended.
