Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. When the news reaches Russia, her story is threatened when her parents travel to New York to have the marriage annulled. Sean Baker wanted to play Yura Borisov after seeing him in the film Kupe br. 6 (2021). Although Las Vegas International Airport was known as McCarran International Airport for decades, in 2021 it was renamed McCarran International Airport. In late 2001, its name was changed to Harry Reid International Airport. Igor: Please! STOP!

Scream! Daddy AFP is written and performed by Catherine Slater (aka Slayyter). The hype surrounding Anora is huge, and it has paid off. I had no idea what to expect if I put all three Sean Baker films together in my head and thought maybe it would be somewhere in between. all of them (The Florida Project, Red Rocket, and Tangerine are all great films, by the way, and all about sex workers). It had similar tones and focuses, but otherwise Anora was a new beast. I will say that the film part got A LOT more Safdie Brothers than I expected! Lots of people yelling at each other for a very long time!

Very tense! The film, like many great films, takes place in three acts. I felt early on that the structure would feel a bit like Boogie Nights, and I would say that it was very good. You have your own faction, your own conflict, and your own conclusions. Without giving too much away, I will say that the ending made the whole film for me, and my girlfriend agreed. You have a 2 hour experience that is mostly funny and mostly touching, it all seems a bit lame but still offers a lot of very important information about the sex work experience, but it all seems funny until you get to the end. Instead of the ending wrapping up nicely in a beautiful bow, this is an ending that unwraps the bow, opens the box, and leaves everything RAW reality. I was a little taken aback by the very specific energy of the packed room as the silent credits rolled and people began to very slowly (very quietly) leave the auditorium.

When I saw the trailer for the film, I was expecting a bubbly, sweet girl – but she plays a tough, smart, VERY New York-based, buzzy character, and it was a pleasant surprise. Anora is usually a sympathetic character, but not always, and this only adds to her humanity and overall realism and functionality as a protagonist. You experience a rollercoaster of ups and downs with him, and the depth feels very real. He’s also very HOT, and there’s A LOT of sex in this movie. The entire cast is fantastic, but new faces Mark Eidelshtein and Jura Borisov stood out the most as capable actors who deserve much more acting in the future. Eidelstein stole the show as the most believable raging rich boy ever, and Borisov’s nuances were loud AF, no need for many words. I think this is one of Baker’s two best movies to date. movies.

It’s really exciting to see how this movie does. the house was absolutely packed, and I hear the opening weekend numbers were the highest of the year. This is the kind of original, honest, and relevant filmmaking that needs to be seen, celebrated, and supported, and I’m glad it’s happening.
